Kitchen Renovation Part 3

Posted by 11 months ago. (Back to all articles...)

It's as busy here today as a crowded shopping mall!  Appliances delivered, carpenters busy with finish work, and Skyline Marble templating the counter tops!  It is definitely crunch time.  Richard is busy trying to coordinate all his subcontractors to get their work done prior to Christmas.  We're hoping that everything other than the painting and installation of the decorative lighting will be the only items left until after the holidays.

When deciding on decorative lighting, I worked with Sherry from Good Life New England (www.goodlifenewengland.com).  We decided on two pendants over the island and picture lights to highlight the open shelving.  I purchased my decorative lighting through the Welch Company (welchcompany.com).  Shopping for these items was made easier as Good Life New England and the design department of the Welch Company share the second floor of the Welch Company building on Front Street in Scituate Harbor.  Both shops have a very easy working relationship.   Caroline Warner's  design shop is lovely.  Even if you're not looking for lighting, her shop is well worth the visit.  It is beautifully decorated displaying many of the lines she carries.  They were wonderful to work with and couldn't have been more accommodating.  They carry many different lighting vendors and in the end, I decided on the pendants from Visual Comfort.  They should match the cabinet hardware nicely.

They should arrive sometime after Christmas.  Can't wait!
